Horror-themed space shooter game
Underspace is a premium action game for PC from developer Pastaspace Interactive. It is a sci-fi space shooter featuring horror themes wherein players will explore a galaxy filled with all kinds of monstrosities that take cues from Lovecraftian lore. It boasts a large sprawling world divided into multiple unique star systems to discover.
Much like the Freelancer series or Everspace 2 that drew inspiration from the same, Underspace is all about open-world exploration, fast-paced space dog fights, and creating your own adventure. This one is an open-world sandbox role-playing game.
Teeming with otherworldly horrors
Underspace is an arcade space shooter that's inspired by the classic Freelancer series. It takes place in the Croft Galaxy divided into hand-crafted star systems for you to explore. Each one suffers from hyperspatial storms that produce strange environmental hazards and bring about all kinds of bizarre anomalies that can only be described as horrific creatures straight out of a Lovecraftian novel.
The game boasts a main campaign that spans 16 missions, with 45 side quests to take on. There are over 60 ships to unlock that you can customize and load out with all sorts of equipment, of which there are more than 500. Space cowboy it up toward 100-plus star systems and come face-to-face with the aforementioned monsters in a fight for your life.
Dock and resupply in over 200 space stations across the galaxy and interact with the local residents to know more about their stories and hear about the mysteries of ancient civilizations whose lost ruins hold all kinds of hidden treasures. This game has a nostalgic feel to it, bringing you back to the 90s. However, some players have complained about the terrible audio from the game.
Something different
In the space sim genre wherein everything feels and looks similar, Underspace is an intriguing new release that offers something different and interesting for fans. It has the whole open-world exploration and thrilling combat with customizable ships covered, but the introduction of a Lovecraftian theme just takes everything to a higher level.
